Job Retraining and Workers' Compensation
Once you have been hurt on the job, you may not be able to perform your job any more. Depending upon your background, an injury may affect you differently that it would someone else. Someone who does a desk job may be able to go back to full work with a permanent impairment to their leg or with constant low back pain. Someone who has done only construction work, probably could not.
We are a Phoenix law firm focused on your rights. Contact us for a FREE PHONE CONSULTATION at 602-248-0380 to discuss your specific workers' compensation concerns with an experienced attorney.
With Certain Exceptions — Retraining and Vocational Rehab Is Allowed
Many people ask for vocational rehabilitation or job retraining once they get hurt on the job or have experienced a workers' compensation disability. Unfortunately, the Arizona workman's compensation law does not require retraining or vocational rehab.
However, there is a limited set of circumstances in which the Special Fund/No Insurance Section of the Industrial Commission will pay to retrain you or send you to vocational rehabilitation. The Special Fund/No Insurance Section provides money to certain individuals whom are deemed to fit within the special circumstances.
The Special Fund/No Insurance Section May Pay for Schooling
The Special Fund/No Insurance Section of the Industrial Commission may pay for your schooling and provide you money while you are in school.
